Special Faculty, Non-Tenure Track Position [Full Posting]
RESPONSIBILITIES: Provides both in-person and online reference services on Sundays and four other evenings a week. Delivers one-on-one instruction in the use of both print and electronic information resources. May create LibGuides or other library publications. May help to maintain the currency of content on the library’s Website. Contributes to collection development of reference and general collection materials. Reports to the Library Faculty Chair.
QUALIFICATIONS: Required: ALA accredited Master’s degree in Library & Information Science. Effective communication, interpersonal and organizational skills. Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. The successful candidate will have the ability to promote and support cultural competency.
Strongly Desired/Preferred Qualifications: One or more years of professional reference experience in either academic or public libraries; including one-on-one teaching experience (research assistance to patrons, etc.). We seek a candidate who genuinely enjoys helping people and providing outstanding customer service to patrons.
SALARY/APPOINTMENT: This is a one-year appointment at the Library Associate level, September 1, 2015 – June 30, 2016; position is budgeted for 10-months, 55% time. Salary will be approximately $30,000 a year for this appointment including comprehensive benefits: TIAA/CREFF retirement program; comprehensive medical insurance; accrued annual leave, established paid holidays, and sick leave.
