2015 PNLA Conference in Vancouver, WA
“Pushing the Boundaries”

The 2015 PNLA Conference will be held August 5-7, 2015 at the Hilton Vancouver in beautiful Vancouver, Washington.  Vancouver is an historic town located on the north shore of the Columbia River.

The PNLA conference planning committee is seeking program proposals for one hour presentations at the conference. Please submit your proposal to Karen Yother at kareny@communitylibrary.net or mail to:

by January 9th 5:00pm. Submissions will receive a response from the planning committee by March 6, 2015.

Be sure to include the following information with your submission:

About you:
· Name
· Affiliation
· Position/title
· Contact information: including mailing address, phone number and e-mail address
· PNLA member?

About your program:
· Program title
· Program description (no more than 100 words)
· Three Program goals or objectives
· Program Format (single or double speaker, panel, hands-on, etc.)

Program Logistics:
· Speaker needs (if any)
· Equipment needs (PNLA will provide laptop and projector for each room)
· Any other special requirements or additional information

Faculty Reference Librarian (Part-time) – Gonzaga University

Deadline: 31 October

Gonzaga University is looking for a part-time reference librarian to work evening and/or weekend hours, depending upon library needs. The position will start in November, 2014 and is a year-round position.

Job Description
• Work and interact effectively with students, faculty and staff to provide reference services in person, via chat, phone and email.
• Provide one on one assistance with library resources, including a wide range of online databases and electronic resources.
• Work on special projects delegated by the Reference Department;
• Attend staff meetings; and
• Participate in safety and training activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATION: Master of Library Science from an ALA accredited program.

DESIRED QUALIFICATION: Community college or other academic library experience.

Fall 2014 INCOL Workshop – Gadget Menagerie: Tablet & E-Reader Training for Library Staff

Stumped when patrons ask about iPad apps? Confused about the differences between the various eReaders? The Washington State Library, University of Idaho, and the Idaho Commission for Libraries are partnering with INCOL for “Gadget Menagerie” training on handheld devices for library staff. Learn how various eReaders, tablets and other devices work. Discover what these devices have in common, how they differ, and learn basic operating tips. Learn basic troubleshooting and tips for helping patrons with their devices, including how to download books from the library.

The Gadget Menagerie will familiarize local library staff with the variety of devices available, letting staff be more comfortable and skilled in helping library patrons. The menagerie includes Kindles, Nooks, Galaxy Tablets, iPads, Microsoft Surface, and a Chromebook. Also on hand will be assistive reading devices from the Assistive Technology Resource Center at the University of Idaho.

 No registration fee for employees of INCOL member libraries
